My Optimist Yachting and Kayaking day 2

This is my reflection for Optimist Yachting day 2.

Reflection for
Something I was pleased with was how well me and my buddy George worked together on the yacht because My first buddy chickened out. HE WOULDN'T STOP PANICKING.
I really enjoyed learning how to get comfortable on the yacht and relax because on day one I was not very relaxed.

Something I found hard was keeping my buddy calm because whatever I said just made him louder.
Something that made me think was watching the sail and still relaxing because it hit me in the head a couple of times.
Something I want to get better at is ducking my head and leaning

Cosmos kennel

For maths we have been designing dog kennels. The measurements of the wood were 12 by 24. We had to find the measurements for the sides and faces. We then had to find out how much wood we had used and how much we had  left over. When then worked on figuring out the percentage used. It was very hard!

Hyperloop

This my story about the futuristic Hyperloop.

Todays the day. Today it's finally happening. The event that will change the world. The opening of the Hyperloop. The new generation of transport. With air cushion, vacuum and sonic speed tech. It uses no fuel and is faster than a plane. And we have tickets for the first ride. I quickly put my clothes on and rush down the hall to the kitchen Mum and Dad are waiting. “Are you ready Elijah?” they say I nod my head as I flash past and get the cereal. my brother comes in soon after and he bouncing of the walls. “Eaten your breakfast?” Says mum “Check” we say “ made your bed?” “check” “Brushed your teeth?” “check” “gone potty” “MUM!” “Ok we're off then” We hop in the car and drive to the H.L Station. We arrive and hope out. We run in the door Mum and Dad Chasing after us. The station looked amazing. It had a robo giving everyone little hover disk to get around in. It’s so cool. We got in line to ride in the hyper loop. There was a poster with Elon Musk the inventor of the Hyperloop. I once met him he has short black hair and blue eyes, he has a short beard, he looks like he is in his mid thirties I’m not sure how old he is but he must be at least that old. “The first hyperloop ride is about to leave the station” Said a computer as appeared on the screen above “please board”. We hop in the capsule and the door seal flashes and makes a click noise the hyperloop vacuum starts and we go zooming through the tube. I can hardly tell that we are moving I look out the window and everything is blurry. We come to a stop slowly and the door opens. We had gone from hastings to napier in a minute. The hyper loop is awesome i say as we get in the line to go back.

My Optimist Yachting and Kayaking

This week we have been doing Optimist yachting and Kayaking. i have had lots of fun. Here is my reflection.

Reflection for

Something I was pleased with was that I didn’t capsize
because I have capsized many times before and was expecting to do it today.
I really enjoyed learning how to control the sail because I had no idea what I was doing.

Something I found hard was holding the rope still because the wind was blowing hard into the sail and I couldn’t grip the rope properly.
Something that made me think was trying to duck when we did a 180 degree turn and the sail flipped over because I almost got hit the first time and tried hard to not get hit again.
Something I want to get better at is holding the rope I can get better at this by holding on tighter because it usually slips.

My story and art of the Taj Mahal

As you know we have been doing a cultural topic on India. Part of the Indian culture is the Taj Mahal. It is a Beautiful marble tomb, made for the Indian queen Mumtaz Mahal 400 years ago. Here is my story.

413 years ago there was an indian Emperor named Shah Jahan and his beautiful Queen Mumtaz Mahal. The both loved each other very much.

One day the queen passed away The Emperor fell into a deep depression and sat in his room for eight long days with the door locked behind him. Will he was in his room he denied any food.
On the ninth day he left his room at last.

While he had been sitting in his room he had  some kind of physical change his back was now slouched. His hair was white but it used to be raven black.

To honour his wife he decided to build a huge tomb for his wife. before it was done  Mumtaz Mahal was sarcophagus was put in the foundation of the huge building. It took 20,000 men 22 years to build the hall and the building stands 81 metres tall and was fully white. It has four spires on its side and one main building and is almost completely symmetrical.

The Emperor planned to make a second Taj Mahal in black for himself but died before it could happen.

.

From YouTube

This my Taj Mahal art. I made it on paint. Its my first actual piece of art on paint. I’m am very proud of it. The reason it is colored like this is because the sun is setting. I have tried my best to make it symmetrical like the the original. I've put the pillars on slight angles too. I have made the Taj Mahal the closest to white as I can and still leave it slightly yellow for the sun set. I hope you like it.

Elijah Man And the Evil Twin the final chapther

Sadly the final chapter of the Evil twin here. But hay Here there's always the next Elijah man story. Please comment

Last time:
The Secret Seven were zapped to the edge of the galaxy by the evil clone. Elijah man managed to shape shift into a super jet and they were about to leave when...

This time:
Elijah man got some kind of weird feeling and looked up he saw a huge asteroid heading straight for them and guess who was riding it like surfboard. It was THE CLONE! There he is Elijah man yelled as he transformed back into himself He demanded his power to shape shift into the strongest thing it could. Suddenly Elijah was in a huge power suit. “Awesome!” he said and raced towards the clone BAAM!, “the clone takes a punch to the face but returns with a double handed uppercut” yells Zach as The clone and Elijah man faced off against the clone. “Zach stop commentating and help me” Elijah yelled. “Right” Zach yelled and tried to take off but then he remembered he couldn't fly and just fired his guns at the clone. He hit Elijah Mans power suit and that rebounded and almost hit him. At least he was trying. Elijah man punched and punched and the clone punched and punched. Their powers could not keep up and they suddenly stopped and fell.

Master Tyrone rushed over and grabbed Elijah Man. And put him on the asteroid. “How are we going to get home?!” Zach yelled “Elijah is out and I don’t think any of us learnt how to shape shift in 5 minutes!”. The toilet floated past slowly. Zach smiled. Splash Elijah  suddenly became conscious. “What happened?” he said “why am I so wet?”. Elijah man looked over at the empty toilet and he instantly knew. “ZAAAAAACH!”. Zach run but Elijah stretched his hand and slapped the Man out of him (not like he had any). “Where's the clone?” Elijah a man asked “Is he dead?”. “Well if you slapped him like that then yes” Moaned Zach rubbing his face. “Well then lets go home” And everyone but Zach who clung onto Elijah mans foot flew back towards earth.

Meanwhile in the darkest corner of space came a shriek.

THE END?...

Pangolin report

This is my pangolin report. Hope you like it. Please comment.

You might not know but in India there is a thing called a scaly anteater (pangolin). Pangolin are just like normal anteater but with scales! And no not the scales you weigh with, the ones on a fish. Want to find out more? Read this.

Description
The pangolin has a hard shell on its back. Like an armadillo, the pangolin uses it’s shell to protect itself from predators, it raps into ball and covers his face with it’s tail. It’s scales are sharp at the ends which is good for extra defence. When the pangolin is young it’s shell is soft and as it gets older the shell hardens. The shell is made of keratin, The same thing our fingernails are made of. The texture is similar to a pine cone. The pangolins claws are too long for walking, so it curls it’s paws to protect them. Pangolin can release a  poisonous acid similar to the spray of a skunk. A Pangolins claws are used to burrow and dig out termite and ant hills. The size of Pangolin depend on the species the range is 30-100 cm.  Female are usually smaller than male. The tongues on pangolin are very long. Big pangolin can stretch their tongues to about 40 cm!

Actions
Pangolins are nocturnal animals and use their great sense of smell to find insects. Arboreal pangolin live in hollow trees. Ground dwelling species dig tunnels as deep as 3.5 meters!  Pangolins are also good swimmers.

Diet

Pangolin have no teeth so they can not chew. Instead they tear open ant and termite hills with their claws and dive deep into them with their long tongue. The pangolin has glans in its chest to cover its tongue with sticky spit. Some species of pangolin like the tree pangolin have strong tails that let it hang from trees, it uses its claws to strip bark and expose the insects.

Threats

Pangolin are hunted by eaten in many parts of Africa and Southern Asia and they are a very popular meat in the bush. Chinese are also trying to get the meat sent to them because it is considered a delicacy. Some Chinese think its scales have medicinal uses. This caused the pangolins population to drop. In 2010 pangolin were added to the  ZoologicaL Society of London’s endangered list. Two species are in the IUCN'S endangered list. Even though pangolin have protected by an international ban of their trade, the population has been lowed by illegal smuggling because people  in asia think their scales could be used as cures for cancer and asthma. They are also smuggled for their meat. In 2013 10,000 kg was found in chinese boats. The captain provided a description of the killer of the pangolin.
Types

There are many types of pangolin here is a list from savepangolins.org
The Asian pangolins include:
  • Indian or thick-tailed pangolin (Manis crassicaudata) – Conservation status Near Threatened
  • Chinese or Formosan pangolin (Manis pentadactyla) – Endangered
  • Malayan or Sunda pangolin (Manis javanica) – Endangered
  • Palawan or Philippine pangolin (Manis culionensis) – Near Threatened
The African pangolins include:
  • Cape or Temminck’s ground pangolin (Manis temminckii)
  • Tree or African white-bellied pangolin (Phataginus tricuspis) – Near Threatened
  • Giant ground pangolin (Smutsia gigantea) – Near Threatened
  • Long-tailed or black-bellied pangolin (Uromanis tetradactyla)

How can you help save pangolin?

You can help save pangolin by not buying pangolin stuff like pangolin medicine, pangolin wine, pangolin jewelry and pangolin clothes. And of course don’t eat pangolin!

So you see pangolin are cool animals and they come in sorts of shapes and sizes. But they are in danger. To find out more try the links below
