Mars no fear of no return

This is my pretend writing about me going to Mars. Enjoy!

MARS  NO  FEAR  OF  NO  RETURN!

It’s finally the day. The day I will never forget. The day my parents won’t forget. The day my friends, my family and the world won't forget. The day that will have a permanent place in history! The Day, me and the team go to Mars. Today we are astronauts, then in 7 months  we are heroes. The First Humans on Mars. Possibly even the first life on Mars? Just us four. Sam, Jason, Kim and I.

We were doing our final goodbyes. Mum and Dad were bawling their eyes out as I walk away for the last time. As I walk up to the ship I stopped. I turned around and took one last long look at the world. I looked at Mum and Dad as they waved goodbye. They have stopped crying but I could tell they were only just holding it in. I waved and they waved back. I turned around and walked up the ramp and into the ship. I have a huge lump in my throat as I look out the window and see Mum and Dad crying again. Jason puts his hand on my back. “It’ll be ok kid, you’ll see,” he says. “There’s nothing to worry about”.

Then the twins walked in. Kim was crying and Sam was rolling his eyes while patting Kim on the back. “She’s been crying all morning” he says as they both slump into their seats “She finally realised what a  big difference going to Mars will be”.
“It’s just so saaaaad!” Kim sobbed as Jason and I started doing the last checks on the rocket. “Ok guys look’s good,” Jason says as he gives a thumb up to mission control “lets fire it up”. “OK READY FOR IGNITION” says Jack the mission control guy.
“Ohh my gosh, can you just get it over with before Kim floods the ship!” Sam yells into the mic. “OK,OK. DON’T GET YA NICKA’S IN TWIST” Jack snaps back “10, 9, 8”.
“Come on!” we all yell.
“321 GO!” he yells back. Suddenly the rocket jolts forward and we lift off the ground. “AAAHHHH!!!” We all scream as we shot through the atmosphere. The fuel tank fell off. and we floated aimlessly towards Mars.

To be continued... dun dun dun!

My mid year reflection

My mid year reflection

I enjoyed the Young Leader mud run at the army assault course because it was lots of fun. I found it sort of challenging crawling under the cargo net.
I have enjoyed all the different types of writing we have done because I really like writing

I have had lots of fun making a movie with the other Digi
Leaders.

My favorite blog post this year has been coke bottle because I really enjoyed writing it.

I like doing genius hour because I get to research whatever I want.

Something I enjoyed and found challenging was Flax Rock
because it was hard at first but eventually I got the hang of it.

Something I enjoy doing is playing net ball dodge ball at fitness.

My favorite school trip this year was the waka ride.
I have really liked reading our class book Wonder because it is very interesting and exciting.

Holt Plantetarium

HOLT PLANETARIUM VISIT
Monday 16 June 2014

Something I enjoyed was the dome room, because I like how we could see all the stars.

Something I found interesting was black holes, because I was wanting to learn more about them this term.

The most exciting thing about space is the different planets, because I like all the different forms, colors and patterns.

I would like to learn more about Mars.

“How do stars in the universe have an impact impact on us?”
I want the rest of my inquiry topic to be about: Milky Way

Questions:
  • What are the names of other planets out there?
  • What are the names of some of the other earth like planets?
  • How long would it take to get to these planets?
  • Is it true that the center of the milky way is a black hole?
  • How many planets have been found so far?
  • How bright is the average star?

Bravery story: Optimist Yachting

As some of you might know we have been reading Wonder as our class book. This writing was inspired by the precept "Fortune favours the bold."

We’d just arrived at Pandora pond ready for some fun. My friends and I are all jittery with fright and excitement! Everyone walks down to the stones and wait for instructions. Mr M started calling out names to hop in the boats. I was finally called and paired up with my classmate Crighton we jump in a boat and seat of into the windy water.

The wind was really strong and it was really hard to keep strait. Especially when you're crashing into people every five seconds. we were going really fast and had to lean to the side every once in a while to keep the boat from capsizing.

Suddenly the boat lunged to the side and the boat filled with water luckily the buoyancy tanks were there to keep us afloat. We keep filling our buckets with water and tipping over board.
Then the boat did it again it leaned to right and we lean to the left. It was practically side ways.

The sail swung round and smacked me in the head. My hat fell off and landed in the boat. It was soaked. the boat was still full of water and every time I was almost done the tipped to the side! I was sick of it!

Crighton and I decided to back to shore so I pulled on the rope and he turned the rudder and we turned back to shore. But the wind was letting us get out of it that easy it swung us around in every which direction. But we were able to push through the wind and make it safely back to shore.

My Park

This is my Park I designed for home work. It's called Awesome Park. Because it's Awesome.
I put all sorts of things like rugby fields, a pound and even a splash pad. We had to add measurement like area and perimeter.
